Yes, of course you can. The star map element locations can be calculated for past and future dates. The algorithms we use to calculate the location of the stars, planets, and deep sky objects are similar to the ones used to locate the sun at any moment in time (past or future). If you search Google for the term "sunset" it'll tell you when the sun will set today in your city - which is in the future. The same methodology applies to locating other sky objects.
